Tucked into a quiet strip along the beaches of Quintana Roo is the Azul “Fives” resort. Called “Fives” because the stunning resort arouses five senses, our stay there cemented my love for the Karisma Resort Family. Karisma adversities its properties as luxury all-inclusive and they do not disappoint.
Carlos and I honeymooned at Azul Beach Resort on Riviera De Maya, and we’d been meaning to go back to live the experience again. Four years and one baby later we managed to make it back to Mexico and Karisma but this time at a different resort. Our honeymoon had pampered us with nightly turndown service, baths run for us in our indoor jacuzzi, and a swim-up bar was facing the beach.
We’d enjoyed a butler served dinner for two on the beach and massages under a leafy canopy overlooking the water. Those were the perks of being the honeymooners but would we able to highly recommend these services as “regular” hotel guests? The answer is a resounding yes!
From the moment our taxi pulled up to the resort we were touched by the outstanding service we remembered. A waiter appeared and poured champagne for us as we got the check-in process started.
It was a few weeks before Christmas and the lobby which would have been considered beautiful on a regular day in shades of lavenders, purples and grey, was aglow with Christmas lights and a festively decorated Christmas Tree.
Though the resort is on the beach, you feel like you are walking through a Mayan Jungle. Buildings jut out from canopies of trees, and at the centre of the space is a tiny forest of trees with wooden paths for you to venture through. Beware the monkeys though, it’s their forest after all.
To add to the eye feast, there are beautiful rock walls with waterfalls that cascade down them, green pathways with hammocks and lush vegetation, and of course, the beach.
Each restaurant transports you to another time and place with elegant décor made to match its cuisine of choice.

The food is orgasmic. Period. Karisma resorts are gourmet all-inclusive, and that makes all the difference. We dined on Mexican, Italian, Thai, Japanese and French cuisines and I swear that I’m going back just for the food. There wasn’t one meal that wasn’t supercalafradjalisticexpialidocious, and each restaurant had a signature drink or excellent wine list that made my taste buds jump for joy.
Though the activities were fun, and the resort is made for families, Carlos and I enjoyed much needed quiet time, relaxing in the stillness of our swim-up pool and by the newly created adults only pool and bar.
No pun intended, but hands down, our massages at Vessi Spa were the highlight of the trip. How do I describe the most magical spa experience in words? I can’t! All I can say is I wish I came even earlier than I did so that I could have a longer time in the pre-service phase enjoying the warm and cold pools, sauna and steam room. The service itself was phenomenal, and after hours of being touched in all the right stress relieving spaces, those awesome masseuses gave us freshly made smoothies before we left.
For two new parents, this place was akin to heaven on earth and solidified us as Karisma guests for life. The absolute, absolute best part? We got this whole experience for a steal of a deal during their annual Black Friday Sale! While Black Friday is still a few months away, Karisma is currently provided with a discount at its Nickelodeon Resort. Click the link for more. Happy Travels!
